Remodeling Your Kitchen

Remodeling your kitchen is of the largest, most complicated projects you could consider for your home because it requires so many choices. It begins with understanding your needs and your budget. Do you dream of a cook’s kitchen with appliances that make even the largest gourmet meals possible? Are you a traditionalist, or do you favor contemporary styles? Beginning with the design to the installation process, DreamMaker experts aim to enhance the quality of your life by working with you to create a kitchen that meets your unique wants and your needs.

There are so many choices to make – a double sink for lots of dishes vs. one of the stylish farmhouse sinks? How many burners do you need? How much space should you dedicate to pantry and storage, and how much should be reserved for foot traffic, kids, neighbors, dogs and parties?

DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen has been planning and fulfilling kitchen dreams since 1988. We have then experienced team to help you make all of your important choices.

Kitchen Material Choices

Cabinets

At DreamMaker, it’s not necessary to invest in top-of-the-line cabinets to get high-quality features and craftsmanship. Many of our cabinet choices offer organizational solutions like drawers instead of doors and built-in features like spice racks and organizers.

Style

Cabinets provide a visual theme and define the style for your kitchen. Are you a traditionalist, or do you have a more modern eye?

Materials

Solid wood, MDF (medium density fiberboard), Plywood, or Laminate all have benefits and challenges in your new kitchen.

Finish

Natural wood, wood stain, paint, or laminate.

Hardware

Inset of face frame doors and drawers, soft-close or traditional hardware, pulls & trims.

Design

While a design that meets your dreams is key, specifying design eliminates like Lazy Susans and pull-outs eliminate dead-space and improve kitchen storage.

Countertops

Cabinets

A strategy of countertops is critical for your new kitchen. The visual tone, cost, durability, and required maintenance all must be considered with choosing your new countertops.

Granite

In slab form or tiles. Heavy, durable, and traditional. A high end kitchen surface.

Marble

Extremely attractive natural stone, but relatively soft and must be carefully used and maintained to prevent damage.

Soapstone

A very traditional country kitchen style. Available in a range of colors, but requires ongoing maintenance and care.

Ceramic Tile

Individual clay-based tiles adhered over a cement-board core using thin-set mortar adhesives. Seams can stain, but they are relatively affordable.

Stainless Steel

Sanitary with a unique style, they are expensive to fabricate.

Wood

Warm and comfortable wood and bamboo offers a classic look, but requires care and maintenance.

Concrete

A poured-in-place countertop that gives a home a one-of-a-kind look.

Laminate

A thin layer of plastic laminate material bonded to a core of particleboard or MDF. One of the most affordable choices.

Quartz

One of the latest and greatest man-made countertop materials that is an excellent maintenance-free alternative to natural stone.

Believe it our not, there are also other more unusual counter-top options as well. We’re only limited by your imagination and your budget.

Flooring:

Often overlooked, you need to choose a floor surface that reflects the style of your new Connecticut kitchen, but will also hold up to foot traffic and resist stains from those inevitable kitchen spills. Porcelain tile, hardwood, and natural stone are common choices.

Apliances:

Its likely true that no-one dreaming of a new kitchen would be motivated by a 4 burner stove or a 36″ refrigerator freezer for your appliance choices. Today, Connecticut homeowners can build their new kitchen around oversized refrigerators or a commercial cooktop. Common appliances to consider include: Refrigerators, freezers, cook-tops or ranges, range hoods, sink and faucet choices, dishwashers, wall ovens, wine or beverage coolers, and microwaves. Firming up your appliance wish-list early in the design process in critical for a great comprehensive kitchen plan.

Lighting:

Work illumination, ambiance, and statement fixtures all need to be properly integrated into your designs in order to give you the finished elegant kitchen of your dreams.
